The name "Junk Yard" has different meanings to different people. Some people think that a junk yard is a place that just buys and sells junk. It doesn't matter what kind of junk, just junk. In all actuality most Junk Yards in the Indianapolis area specialize in cars, trucks and various automobiles. How do junk yards work? Well, first the junk yard buys cars and trucks that have outlived their useful life as a piece of transportation. The junkyard operator purchases the old or wrecked car or truck. Then they either take off the "good" parts for resale or the put them out in the yard for customers to pick out what parts they want. Then when all of the good parts are picked, the vehicle is crushed and the metal is sold for salvage.
